David Bowie's daughter Lexi says his death led to 'lonely isolation'

Rock singer David Bowie’s death in 2016 shocked the world. Now his only daughter, Alexandria is speaking out about the grief she went through.

The Heroes singer died at the age of 69 on January 10, 2016 devastating the music world and fans across the globe. His widow, model Iman, has often spoken about the devastation his death caused her and their family. Now, his 23-year-old daughter Lexi Jones has opened up about her dad’s death and growing up to be “a violent and angry individual.”

Lexi took to her Instagram last week (January 20) and shared a letter to her “younger self” in which she wrote of her grief and how she had hurt others throughout. The celebrity‘s daughter penned she thought it had been “easier” to label herself a “psychopath” to “justify” her actions.

She said, in part: “I confused living life with surviving life’s days by filling my body’s bottomless void, drowning myself in toxins and poison. Surrounding myself with insignificant crowds, having fun for a while, but soon forgetting about it.

“I’ve hurt the ones I love the most with hateful words to make them feel at least a bit of the pain I went through every day. It wasn’t their fault that they didn’t understand the severity of my sickness, which I never attempted to explain. Though, it felt easier to label myself as a psychopath rather than to have admitted to the lack of introspection in an effort to justify my harmful actions. Growing to be such a violent and angry individual was unbelievably contradictory to the sweet and gentle little girl I used to be.”

She continued: “I’ve blamed outer entities and unfortunate experiences for why I am the way I am because it’s exhausting to have always blamed it on myself all this time. I learned to forgive myself for all I have done, never dwelling on my past, for it is something I can never change. Though learning to find contentment in accepting what is out o

Paying tribute to her dad

On the seventh anniversary of his passing last year, Lexi took to Instagram to share a snap of herself and her dad, smiling as he held her. Lexi can be seen holding a rainbow umbrella while dressed in an adorable bear onesie, while David wears a blue and red coat and reading glasses.

Another slide showed the dad and daughter at a piano having a jamming session in what looks like their kitchen. Lexi can be seen showcasing her talents at a young age, though it’s no surprise seeing as who her dad is.

She captioned the post simply: “7 years ago today. I miss you [red heart emoji].”
