Lil Nas X's tampon costume dragged for being 'ridiculous' but fans missed something

Lil Nas X has received quite the backlash for his tampon Halloween costume, although the shock of it all is making fans miss out on one clever costume trick from the star.

The music star has taken to Instagram to show off his outfit of a ‘used tampon’ although it looks like he didn’t get the reception he was probably expecting.

Taking to his 11.7 Instagram followers, The Old Town road singer posted a reel of himself strutting down the street in his ‘bloody’ costume.

He wore a padded white dress, which was dyed red on top. He paired the look with some white high-heeled boots and even took a stumble in them at the end.

As the costume was being dragged by fans, from the comments, it seemed like they missed the ‘arguably’ clever idea of himself dragging the string behind him.

And, that wasn’t the only thing behind the 24-year-old. He also included a huge prop behind him, made to look like a vagina.

Many fans and celebrities took to the comment to laugh at the costume, however, it seems like some were less than impressed.

“I enjoy this look but the fact that you personally have never experienced the stigma, shame, or pain involved with having a period makes me pause and think……. But why though?” questioned one.

Another angry fan said: “This is so wrong you don’t even know what we go through every month just going to laugh at our pain.”

“How do you think women feel about such a vulgar mockery of their menstruation cycles? This is very distasteful… but expected from you,” penned one.

However, others rushed to the Montero singer’s defense: “People so sensitive they don’t have a sense of humor no more this is funny,” wrote one user.

“Boy you kill me, I needed this laughter today,” laughed another.

The star showcased another ‘strange’ Halloween costume

The tampon wasn’t the only strange costume the Lil Nas X displayed. In fact, before sparking ‘outrage’ with that one, Lil Nas X shared a picture of himself on the front of Halloween costume packaging, for vitamin water.

Earlier this year, he starred in a series of commercials for Vitaminwater, and now it looks like fans can dress like him too.

However, it seems many weren’t fans of the odd fashion look, as one penned: “Sorry I know this is just an ad but how tf does that outfit look like the vitamin water bottle.”

“I’m kinda confused, the look doesn’t match the vitamin water,” wrote another.
